no bus passes
« on: 11 November 2009, 23:26:23 »
what do people think about the , fact that the government want to abolish the free bus pass scheme for pensioners. that would just be about right I have only got 5 yrs till I get mine and now they decide to abolish it agh !
Apparently they want to only give pensioners a free bus pass if they are poor enough. I think by the time I get to the age when i can get one, I will certainly be poor enough the way the powers that be are fleecing us workers for everything they can think of.

the sooner labour are out the better as far as i am concerned. Bunch of arseholes.
as an example I am currently unemployed, so due to my shoulder after the op, I have a disability employment adviser, who will help with job placement, help doing the CV, and even help with changing the work place to help me should I get a job. So since they are prepared to do all that, you would think I qualify for disability allowance, er no. I can wipe my own bum, don't have trouble getting out of bed, and can walk far enough. I was rather hoping to join the people i have seen all my life, who spend all of theres in the pub all day and have never worked.
Actually I would really like a job, so there is a good chance I will go self employed fixing PC's and setting up networks etc.

That's what a friend of mine does 99, making and fixing PC's, and he seems to make a good living out of it.  When he first started about 10 years ago, he didn't get a great deal of work, but through 'Word of Mouth' he's got plenty of work

A few months ago my friend at work , her husband nearly died he had a severe bleed in the brain, and it was touch and go weather he would come through, luckily he has come through it but has had to learn to walk talk ect all over again, to say how bad he was he is doing great with still a long way to go, he needs special speech lessons which this government say he cant have till this month, they have now put it back till january as they ve got no one to give him the lessons.( in other words no money in the kitty)

My friend has still got to come to work because they are not allowed certain disability benifits, they say because he can now walk he is not disabled, It doesnt matter to them that he is not allowed out on his own as he cannot speak properly or understand what he is doing, he is like a little lost child and has to have someone with him 24/7..

They have no one coming into help all the family are trying to do it alone, my friend has lost loads of weight with worry ect and is now having to pay £45.oo an hour for speech lessons for her husband, to try and help him.(this is the same teacher who the government would not pay )

When I think of some of the putrid, scroungers that get away with thousands of pounds it makes my blood boil. This man has worked all his life to be treated like this, where is all the money he has paid into the system for 40 odd years .

It is a pity he doesnt speak a foreighn language, as there is always money for any foreighner that dumps themselves here in this so called civilised country.

I think the same as you Dreamer.  The Goverment always seems to find the cash for Illegals and other lame projects, but when it comes to looking after 'Our Own' it's "Tough Luck"

Governments look on this with this in mind

" The indigenous people should take care and prepare themselves for eventualities such as illness and the like"  where as the 'Illegals and other lame dregs could not have done this so they need EXTRA CARE & HELP FROM YOU the TAX PAYER

My way of looking at government and the way they treat the hand that feeds THEM
I may not be perfect, but being this close to it is spooky

Not sure how it works back there Dreamer but over here it seems like the 'squeaky wheel gets the grease'
In other words the more fuss you make the greater your chance of getting what you need from the government - especially if the complaining is done in a public manner such as getting the media involved.

It's the same over here.  We have a number of 'Current Affair' programs and there have been many cases where someone has complained over and over again to Private Companies and Government Departments with no luck at all, but as soon as one of these 'Current Affair' programs are notified, as though by MAGIC, it gets fixed

As they say, it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease!

I have a pc guy who comes and rescues me when my computer loses its mind.  He has a whole list of clients whose computers he takes care of and he seems to earn enough to keep him and his family okay.  He charges $90 an hour (about £60).  He is an absolute genius and comes equipped with all kinds of applications and drives and god knows what else.

My desktop crashed a few weeks ago and he came and played with it to no avail.  So he took my hard drive home with him and copied everything onto another drive.  The next night he came back and reset my hard drive to factory condition and then reinstalled all my programs and files again.  I didn't lose anything in the end.  And he installed quite a few useful programs as well.

He carries a little case full of CDs with just about any application you could want, as well as a USB thingy with all kinds of other things on it.  I'm always totally amazed at what he can do.  It's a total miracle.

I'm sure there must be a demand for pc lifesavers in Torbay just as much as anywhere else.
