This was written by an oil-rig worker in Fort MacMurray in Northern Alberta - he sure makes a lot of sense.
"I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes the money as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay-cheque I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem.
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare cheque because I have to pass one to earn money for them?
Please understand that I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their ass drinking beer and smoking dope.
Could you imagine how much money our provincial governments would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a welfare cheque?
Please pass this along if you agree. Hope you pass it along though, because something has to change in this country, and soon ! ! !"
I replied with this equally crazy comparison:
I have the same problem with the way the Australian Government assesses my Pension.
John Smith and I are the same age, work for the same Company and earn the same wage.
I'm very astute with my money and save a good portion of it
John Smith spends freely on the luxuries of life and has basically a good time
John Smith and I are both retired now
John Smith gets a Full Pension
I get a little over Half Pension
I ask the Government why John Smith gets more that I do
The Government says that John Smith doesn't have as many assets’ as I do so he needs more to live
I say to the Government, “If I waste my money, you'll give me more?”
The Government says, “Yes”
WORK THAT ONE OUT
