It's a Crazy World
« on: 14 October 2009, 23:36:15 »
I belong to a couple of Forums and on one of them someone Posted this

This was written by an oil-rig worker in Fort MacMurray in Northern Alberta - he sure makes a lot of sense.

"I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes the money as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay-cheque I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem.
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare cheque because I have to pass one to earn money for them?
Please understand that I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their ass drinking beer and smoking dope.
Could you imagine how much money our provincial governments would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a welfare cheque?
Please pass this along if you agree. Hope you pass it along though, because something has to change in this country, and soon ! ! !"

I replied with this equally crazy comparison:

I have the same problem with the way the Australian Government assesses my Pension.

John Smith and I are the same age, work for the same Company and earn the same wage.

I'm very astute with my money and save a good portion of it

John Smith spends freely on the luxuries of life and has basically a good time

John Smith and I are both retired now

John Smith gets a Full Pension

I get a little over Half Pension

I ask the Government why John Smith gets more that I do

The Government says that John Smith doesn't have as many assets’ as I do so he needs more to live

I say to the Government, “If I waste my money, you'll give me more?”

The Government says, “Yes”

WORK THAT ONE OUT  :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

My father in law has always said "do not have a pension! the government will pay you if you have nothing but won't if you have something" so he never had a pension and is now getting as much assistance as he needs (his words not mine)
At this time I have a pension but I am thinking of drawing it early so when I do retire I have nothing so will get all the help !?

a very strange world we have made

Another thing that 'Bugs Me' is that there are 100's of 1000's homeless people in this country, yet the Government spends $1000,000's of dollars giving aid to other countries and housing and feeding 1000's of Boat People and Illegals that come to this country when the money would be better spent on our own poorer and homeless citizens

The wife and I were only talking about this very subject the other day and what the civil servants get up to in claiming for every little thing but don't let anyone else know! it has turned into a world of selfish me me me's
There is no community now its just every one for him/her self, which saddens me as I can still remember times when the door was open to all and never locked.
I may not be perfect, but being this close to it is spooky

I think that is a great idea  by the oil rig worker, in this town I would say that a good 60 percent of those on benefits would not pass the urine test.
we have so much to learn and such a short time to learn it in
