Government "Betrays the Gurkhas"
« on: 28 April 2009, 20:23:02 »
Well, what can one say? This tawdry government and its "lacklustre band" of political incompetents, have "shown their true colours".

After a stirling campaign of support and many false promises, Browns cronies have dealt the final blow to the Gurkhas in their hope for equality and compassion. For years they have been treated as "second class" members of the Armed forces and now it would seem the government has managed to cynically manoeuvre its way around allowing them to stay in this country and receive some form of recognition for their valiant service.

In almost every conflict since the second world war, the Gurkha's have been proud and loyal to Great Britain. Their courage is legend and many have received medals or been mentioned in dispatches for their selfless heroism. Yet men who "sit at desks" and wouldn't know what heroism was if it fell out of a tree and hit them in the head, have ordained their fate.

If we held one minutes silence for every Gurkha that has laid down his life for our freedom, we would be silent for over two weeks, yet we are now silent as we watch our leaders betray them. Our leaders continually allow streams of immigrants into this country, who have no intention of working, live of benefits and hate our way of life. Yet they make no attempt to stem the flow of these economic migrants. Yet how can they put a stop to people coming here who have "served" our country and risked life and limb for us.?

Does this decision sicken you as much as it does me?

To find out more, visit the Gurkha Trust or better still write to your MP and ask for his support for the Gurkhas campaign for justice....(Nick Clegg the Lib Dem MP is putting forward a motion in support of the Gurkhas tommorrow) Ask your MP to support him.

    And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;

And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up."

We were discussing this topic on another Forum I belong to and they too were disgusted with the treatment of the Ghurkhas.  What sort of people are in government who could allow this to happen?  They’re prepared to let in potential terrorists and people who just want the benefits, but of course the Ghurkhas don’t fill that criteria do they? They have just laid their lives down Britain, so what does that matter?

I have to admit to not being terribly knowledgeable, but it is my understanding that they supported us big time - so surely we need to be repaying the favour now they need us - and how many unworthy scrounging immigrants do they let in too ?

then I remember,
it's where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.

I agree with you debbie in respect of the amount of immigrants we welcome with open arms, we give them money, housing health care and they have done nothing for this country nor ever will, but the gurkhas fought for britain died for britain and are not allowed anything it is a disgrace of the highest order, it makes you ashamed to be british. :halo:
we have so much to learn and such a short time to learn it in

Brings to mind

The more you do the less your though about!

This country use ! yes use Gurkha's, they are "signed on" to fight along with "regular" soldiers ? that is the stand which is being taken and the contract that is signed has no pension or relocation rights attached.
they are looked on as "mercenaries" fighting for the Queens coin. yes back in Nepal they would be classed as rich, only some (not all) would like to relocate here to a life that they have grown with, yes OUR WAYS, OUR TEACHINGS. some even have UK nationals as children or partners (they can stay but the Gurkha has to return to Nepal?

YES we as a country should welcome these dedicated people into this country, its the least we as a nation could do to express gratitude for their support.
The Gurkha are still employed in OUR armed forces and still fighting in conflicts around the globe.

just like every "government this country seems to get" SHIT on the people that matter.

I think you're right Kevin

Sanity prevailed in the end

It's the RUBBISH they allow into the country they should be focusing on
