Emergincies and Next of Kin
« on: 08 July 2005, 23:07:05 »
This was taken from HB, but is very important;

East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In Case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon Weston and in association with Vodafone's annual life savers award. The idea is that you store the word "ICE" in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency". In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's so simple - everyone can do it. Please do. Please will you also forward this to everybody in your address book, it won't take too many forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life and create peace of mind for your loved ones.

That`s a very good idea,  and not anything I ever thought of doing.
But will pop that in my mobby, thanks Tabby  :icon_thumleft:

This seems to be taking off big time. There was an Interview about it on BBC R2 last night and this morning they were promoting it.

I think it's a great idea, and would urge you all to spread the word.

Excellent idea...only, I don't have a mobile at the moment, and when i do I'm constantly forgetting it....maybe I should just write it in magic marker on my chest...?

I have my contact number under 'home' but that's because I have an entry under ICE already as it's my friend nickname! mind if they called him he would know who to get in touch with so no probs there either!

and if your going to put a card in your wallet with you next of kin make sure it's written on a donor card.

I've got one for emergencies but have never really got used to using a mobile phone. Anyone else here also 'anti-mobile'?  :wink10:

im not anti mobile, i think if used  correctly they can be a great thing as in emergencies ect. but I get so annoyed when people I am serving at work come up to me and do not say a word, because they are talking on their phones, I put their shopping through, tell them the price they give me the money (still not a word ) I give them the change and off they go still talking on the phone they are so very rude, and I dont think they have ever been taught manners, and I am not talking about young people either. :halo:

Yes, me Pete.  My wife had a mobile for emergencies, and when she died, I took it on, but I have not used it once, but I will keep it for emergencies (that's if I ever get to know how to use it)  :bigsmile: :bigsmile: :bigsmile:

I couldn`t live with out my phone, don`t use it alot prob about 4 texts a week. Most people get in touch with me via text. Think it`s because they don`t like talking to me.  :chuckling:

Like it mostly so if I out and about,  say : Son is poorly at school, I can be contacted straight away, or I probably wouldn`t use one.

I had one once dreamer parking their car, they ended up close to my car, ( I was waiting to pull away, then they couldn`t get their door open, then had cheek to ask me to move. :rolleyes: Or you see them pull out on a junction, not looking,  oblivious too anyone driving towards them :censored:

If yyou were travelling in Europe no one would look at an ICE No.
The would assume it was the tel. No. for the InterCity Express.  :toothy9:
